How to use Video Converter
- Choose a local video. The tool inspects the container and codecs on your device.
- Choose MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV or AVI, then set resolution, quality, frame-rate limit, start/end time and audio.
- Convert, review the output details and download the file directly. Cancel stops the conversion worker.
MP4, MOV, MKV and AVI are containers, not promises about the codecs they contain. Common H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9, MPEG-4 and compatible audio inputs are handled by the self-hosted FFmpeg build; an unsupported or damaged stream fails with an explanation. Conversion is a fresh encode, not a lossless format rename. Output uses 8-bit video without alpha. The browser may not preview every downloadable container.
Questions about Video Converter
Can I convert to MP4 and back?
Yes. Supported WebM, MOV, MKV and AVI inputs can be converted to MP4. MP4 inputs can be encoded into each of those four formats using the output codecs listed above. Conversion does not recover quality already lost.
Can I convert long or very large videos?
Sources are limited to 100 MB, ten minutes, 4096 pixels per side and 16 megapixels. Each output clip is limited to three minutes, 1080p and 100 MB. Smaller limits or an updated desktop browser may be needed on a memory-limited device.
Does the file leave my device?
No. FFmpeg runs in a dedicated local worker. Input, output, filenames and conversion settings are not uploaded or saved to tool history. Public software files may be cached by your browser.
Are all supported video conversions free?
Yes. You can use Video Converter for free without signing up or paying. The input, format and processing limits shown in this workspace still apply.
